The EcoSoft Name The handheld data collection software we develop goes by the name of "EcoSoft". This includes both off-the-shelf and custom software.

3 Forester Tools create acceptance and useability
One of our strong points is our ability to incorporate forester "tools" making the software more than just a data collection application. Often our "tools" save time and money for field staff. For example, common tools we incorporate into applications are graphical tree height calculators, statistical graphs and tables, prism limiting distance calculations and automatic IN/OUT tree determination, geometric shape selection and measurements for automatic log volume deductions. Also, we incorporate several "tricks" learned over the years that greatly quicken data entry.

EcoSoft Regen Surveys Silviculture Surveys: Regeneration, stocking, brushing, survival, free growing, planting |
Designed for the HP Palmtop this widely used software accommodates several types of regeneration surveys: planting, stocking, free growing, brushing, regeneration performance, post logging, survival. Flexibility includes ability for user toggle edit checks and data types to collect. Includes the ability to do layered and non-layered surveys. Used to collect government standard data and additional user definable information. Statistical stocking calculations are available in the field even when multiple handhelds are used for the same survey. System includes a PC based merging program offering a quick and simple way to merge field data from multiple handhelds before final statistical analysis is done. A translate program allows the block results to be exported to the DRS PhoenixPRO silviculture record keeping system. |

EcoScale Log Scaling: Coastal and Interior BC |
Runs on both the HP Palmtop and the Husky FS2. The program accommodates coastal and interior BC scaling rules featuring user-controlled edit checks, cursor jump control, and repeat fields. The HP Palmtop version utilizes a graphical interface to deduct volumes of geometric shapes from the gross cylinder volume. Net % volume is automatically calculated. |

EcoCruise Variable and Fixed Plot cruise for B.C. |
Configured for the HP Palmtop displaying up to 14 trees on a plot at one time. Used both the B.C. cruise rules and the log grade net factoring procedure used by industry in the coastal region. Several calculation tools are incorporated including: Tree height calculator, in/out tree distance factor, age correction calculation. A PC merge program allows cruise data from multiple handhelds to be merged into one cruise. Translation routines allow the cruises to be exported to Ministry of Forests authorized cruise compiler programs in B.C. |

Ecosoft Residue and Waste Plot sampling for wood residue – BC standards
|
Designed to run on the CMT RANGER and the HP Palmtop for collecting residue and waste data. Both versions of the program utilize each handheld platform’s graphic display commands. This feature allows the field user an easy way to do multiple volume deductions on a cylinder. The program calculates billable volume on a plot basis. A PC merge program is part of the system that is similar in function to those stated in applications listed in this table. |

This state of the art data collection and simple volume compiling system allows 3P, ratio, and 100% cruising. The system excels in its ease of use and usefulness in sampling small and selective cut areas and small areas with irregular boundaries. | |

EcoSurvey (DOS) EcoSurveyCE (CE) Forest Engineering: traverse, slope deflection line analysis, road layout
|
EcoSurvey started out as a simple traverse program designed to run on the HP Palmtop. It has evolved into a sophisticated but easy to use application for forest engineers to do road layout surveys, slope profiles with deflection line analysis. EcoSurvey and the HP Palmtop are integrated with lasers and the Mapstar electronic compass. A graphics feature allows visual validation of the survey done. The system integrates with 3 major PC mapping programs – TraversePC, RoadEng, and LoggerPC. EcoSurvey CE is the MS Windows CE version and runs on all WinCE HPC handhelds having a minimum display size of 320 X 240. In addition it runs on the smaller PocketPC platform |

This is a data collection system for PSP Ecology data. The data includes: trees (mensuration), soils, topography/site location and vegetation. The system was designed to accommodate BC Ministry Standards and can be customized. |

Stand Survey System for forest growth, health, and wildlife habitat values |
This is a completely integrated system comprised of WinCE handheld data collection software and a PC program that includes: an "intelligent" data merge function, extensive statistical reporting of tree attributes, growth and volumes, plant cover, and down woody matter. Data can be exported into popular growth models like SPS, FVS, LMS, ORGANON and into MS Excel for further analysis. |
