History and Focus

 

D.R systems has been involved in the development of handheld data collection systems since 1983 and are intimate with the major DOS and Windows CE handheld computers.  We also develop custom data collection systems and offer: "off the shelf" data collection products for foresters.  As part of our commitment to our customers we offer training and support for all our products and development projects.

Hardware Knowledge

 

We have worked with all the major DOS and MS Windows CE-based waterproof handhelds on the market and have extensive experience in the unique characteristics of each. Recently, we have developed data collection applications for the new generation of less expensive Pocket PC handhelds, such as the HP IPAQ for which waterproof cases can be procured. Additionally, we have expertise in integrating the following instruments into the data collection process:

 

 

  • electronic calipers and bar code readers

  • lasers and electronic compasses, such as: Laser Ace, Impulse, Criterion, and Contour XLR

We develop handheld applications using the latest MicroSoft software development tools. Our development library and applications are developed in MS Visual C++, ensuring the applications run as fast as possible. Also, MS Visual C++ allows us to create sophisticated features and validation routines, resulting in efficient field use..

 

Our applications operate with the latest WinCE operating systems including:

 

  • Windows CE 3.X

  • Windows CE 2003 Pocket

  • Windows CE.NET

  • Windows Mobile 2003

Present and Future

 

Since 2000 we have been involved in the development of data collection software that runs on the Microsoft Windows CE operating systems. 

 

 

 

 

This includes both the pocket version of WinCE (IPAQ style) and the HPC version (handhelds with keyboards). We have integrated lasers and electronic customers into the data collection process. Our products are sophisticated internally, yet easy to use. Windows CE and the use of touch-screen handhelds are the future to which we are totally committed.

Hey Aaron.

 

My apologies for the delay in getting a good look at this (Road Runner). I had a quick look weeks ago and was impressed, but now I am doing the detailed look and trying things out a bit. To be blunt and crass... this thing IS AWESOME 

 

This is way more powerful than I was expecting and has way more info, data and options than I thought we would get. So having said that I am now loading data back and forth and trying a few more things. Since I get to do the beta testing with the real data, I get the un-popular job of emailing you the complaints, suggestions, bugs, etc... I will keep sending you little issues as I find them, (hopefully not many.) 

 

Your position is a thankless job since you will rarely hear the good stuff and will only hear the bug list and bitching, etc...  So let me say it again now, Thanks for a great product! Good work.
